New Delhi: News of Kapil Sharma’s “Comedy Nights With Kapil” going off-air must have shattered the hearts of many of its fans. But now, the latest report which is doing rounds is that the Kapil is shifting his professional base from Colors to Sony Entertainment Television.
If reports are to be believed, it was Kapil who decide to end the show as they were not happy with the stepmotherly treatment by Colors channel. ‘CNWK’ team felt that they were being sidelined by the launch of new show ‘Comedy Nights Bachao’ and consequently they have been talking to a rival channel to air country’s most loved show.
It is also reported that Kapil may change the name of the show but the core members of the show — Kapil, Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar, Kiku Sharda and Navjot Singh Sidhu will remain the same.
A source close to Kapil’s show said, “We were told that the new show will be called Roast. However, it was titled Comedy Nights Bachao, which is often mistaken for Comedy Nights With Kapil.
Confirming the news to a leading daily, the popular comedian said, “”Yes, it’s true. We told them we would go off air in December, but since they didn’t have a replacement ready, they requested us to continue till January 17. We started on a good note and put in immense hard work to maintain the quality.”
